What is Micro silica?!
It is a mineral mixture consisting of extremely hard glass spheres of silicon dioxide, usually 50 to 100 times finer than the average cement particles. Micro silica is often called condensed silica fume and is a by-product of the industrial manufacture of ferrosilicon and metallic silicon in hightemperature electric arc furnaces.
Product uses:
* Micro silica in concrete improves its strength and durability because it provides a more uniform distribution and a greater volume of hydration products, reducing the cement mixture’s average pore size.
*Micro silica reduces the rate of carbonation and reduces the permeability of chloride. As a result, Micro silica concrete can protect the reinforcement from aggressive agents. The addition of Micro silica: reduces thermal cracking caused by the heat of hydration of cement and can improve durability in attacking sulfates and acidic waters.
*Micro silica, when used as a mixture, can improve the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. Micro silica is also used as a partial substitute for cement and can replace cement without sacrificing quality.
*It reduces the chances of separation, so it can be used as an aid in pumping, and It almost eliminates the bleeding, so itstarts working early.
*It reduces permeability. So it helps protectsteel rebar from corrosion.
Product Description:
Micro silica (silica fume) is a byproduct from silicon metal or ferrosilicon industries and is an amorphous light grey silicon oxide powder.
Micro silica is by ASTM c-1240, it is used in the concrete and fiber cement industry to extend life expectancy in corrosive environments (resistant to chlorides, acids &sulphtes) and to improve strength.
Advantages & Applications
• Lowers concrete permeability.
• Significantly increases concrete durability.
• Increases ultimate strength gain.
• Significantly reduces alkali-silica reactivity.
• Provides excellent resistance to sulfate attack.
• Suitable for all concrete & mortar applications.
Standard Packing:
Jumbo Bag & Bulk Silos.
Dosage: Micro silica should be used in quantities of 5% to 10% of the total dry mix’s weight, other dosages maybe us may depending on mix design conditions.
Storage: Shelf life of 24 months if kept in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture, with unopened packing.
